McGrathNicol is a specialist Advisory and Restructuring firm, committed to helping businesses improve performance, manage risk, and achieve stability and growth.

We are looking for a talented accounting, finance or economics professional to join our growing Forensic team, with a vibrant office culture based in the CBD. We are a recognised leader in forensic services, offering our clients extensive experience in the provision of forensic expert reports and advice, without many of the conflicts faced by audit and large consulting firms.

Working with nationally and internationally recognised forensic accounting and valuation experts, you will help courts, clients and their legal advisers navigate the financial aspects of commercial disputes, providing impartial advice and practical solutions to achieve the best possible outcomes.

You will be involved in building client relationships and pursuing opportunities, delivering clear and technically sound solutions on an interesting array of assignments, and driving continuous improvement in the quality and efficiency of deliverables and client service. An excellent career path is on offer with plenty of room to grow.

What you will do

  • Plan and deliver a range of forensic and advisory assignments, with an emphasis on dispute advisory and business valuation services.
  • Contribute to the preparation of independent expert reports and supporting financial models for dispute resolution purposes.
  • Quantify economic loss, damages and other remedies in the context of commercial disputes.
  • Perform valuations of businesses, shares and other equity, intellectual property and other intangible assets.
  • Review and critique the work of other expert accountants and valuers in legal proceedings.
  • Undertake company, industry and other financial analysis.
  • Maintain compliance with professional and risk management processes.
  • Participate in business development, including relationship development and opportunity research.

Who you are

  • A relevant undergraduate degree (e.g. commerce, finance, business, economics, law). Ideally hold or be working towards a relevant professional qualification (Chartered Accountant or Chartered Financial Analyst) or have an interest in obtaining one.
  • Relevant professional experience, which may include forensic accounting, corporate finance, insolvency, audit, tax or other advisory services (dispute advisory and valuations experience will be highly regarded).
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint, ideally with experience in building financial models including discounted cash flow analyses (familiarity with S&P Capital IQ will also be highly regarded).
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent presentation, problem-solving and analytical skills, with exceptional attention to detail.
  • Strong business and commercial acumen.
