Our national security work is expanding, and we are looking for individuals with Chinese language proficiency and a keen analytical mindset to join our team in Canberra. What you will do

• Conduct open-source research to support national security investigations.
• Analyse Chinese-language material to identify potential risks and trends.
• Prepare high-quality written reports and assessments.
• Apply strong data literacy and analytical skills to extract and communicate insight.
• Collaborate with internal and external partners on priority national security programs.
• Contribute to strategic advisory engagements that contribute to Australia’s national interest.

Who you are

• Professional proficiency in reading Chinese (ILR3+, HSK 6 or equivalent).
• Demonstrated experience in analysis, research, or advisory – or an ability learn quickly.
• Outstanding written and verbal communication skills, including report drafting.
• High levels of curiosity, critical thinking and attention to detail.
• A current Australian Government security clearance (NV1/NV2), or an ability and willingness to obtain one.

While not a mandatory requirement, proficiency in Python, R or similar coding languages would also be welcomed.
